You don’t need to be an interpreter to communicate in ASL. However, we do believe there should be a level of respect and appreciation shown towards the language and especially to the Deaf community that uses it. We believe and follow the NAD/RID tenets and standards for all ASL communications to build trust and protect the integrity of all relationships in our community.

#1 - We respect other’s privacy.
#2 - We will do anything to communicate clearly.
#3 - We maintain professionalism but enjoy fun.
#4 - We value
others always.
#5 - We love everyone in our community.
#6 - We have integrity.
#7 - We are always learning.

Hands In Action started in 2022 at Action Church in Sanford, initially aimed to teach the basics of ASL to church members. Since then, we’ve grown to not only offer ASL interpreting at our local church location, but we’ve partnered with other interpreters and churches in the area.
Our goal is to build a community that extends beyond church walls, encourage others who serve, assist people in need, and continue to learn and grow from each other.
